NEW MISS INDIA TO START CAMPAIGN FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

After winning a big battle and becoming Femina Miss India, Navneet Kaur Dhillion is gearing up for another big battle to fight against discrimination against women in India. She reached her home late last evening and since then busy discussing her plans with her family members and friends.

"Women face discrimination from their birth to death. Many have been killed in womb by male loving families. I am planning to start something big to tackle this menace across country.

I know it's a big problem, but confident that could change the minds of at least youngsters " Navneet told while sitting with her family members in her urban estate house here.

She has won the 50th annual Femina Miss India contest by defeating 22 other beauties in the grand finale held at Mumbai.

"If I don't do anything for the empowerment of women and for their cause I would regret all my life. I know that majority after becoming celebrity give only statement, but I am fully serious and have already talked with my family members. All have supported my plans and offered full support" she said when asked whether she will give only statements or start working also to help country women.

Talking about her fitness, she says she always takes her diet seriously and works in gym as per the instructions of physical trainer.

"Eating less is not the way to get fit. But I also do exercise also" she said.

She is the student of B Tech of Punjabi university Patiala and have plans to complete her study .

"I know the importance of study and not going to leave my study at any cost. I know I will have to work hard to spare time for study from my busy schedule. But I would manage that" she said.

Miss India World 2013 Navneet Kaur Dhillon took a flight back to the Maximum city, Mumbai on Monday morning after her brief visit home in Patiala. Navneet, who was crowned Miss India World last Sunday, came home to a warm welcome on Friday as family, friends and citizens greeted her with flower garlands, dhol and celebratory bhangra. "I was so keen on celebrating with my parents, friends and family that I couldn't wait to be home after winning the crown," said this utterly feminine beauty queen who has a penchant for wearing a petite nose pin.

Before boarding the flight to Mumbai from Chandigarh airport, Navneet beamed with confidence about her participation in the upcoming international beauty pageant, Miss World. "Once I return to Mumbai, it is going to be a gruelling schedule for me to prepare for Miss World. But I am very excited and confident of capturing Miss World!" she said and took off in the skies.

CHANDIGARH REPEATS ITS BEAUTY PATTERN
This is the second consecutive year when a Miss India World has hailed from the city. After Vanya Mishra, a PEC student walked away with the Miss India World 2012 crown last year, this time it was the turn of Navneet to stun the judges with her beauty and intellect. Though Navneet is pursuing her course in media studies from Punjabi University, Patiala, she was selected from the Chandigarh auditions of Miss India few months ago, as the Miss Chandigarh.

Priyanka Chopra, who did India proud in the millennium year by bringing home the Miss World crown, was conferred with the 'Ambassador of Beauty and Substance' honour at the 50th Pond's Femina Miss
India (PFMI) 2013 by Reliance Digital, the official 'Technology partner' of the PFMI pageant this year. Commemorating 50 years of Miss India, this special award was presented to Priyanka after her scintillating performance at the event by Brian Bade, CEO, Reliance Digital, in the presence of Julia Morley, Chairperson of the Miss World organisation. Speaking at the event, Bade said, "Being an American, I have not been exposed to many Bollywood movies. However, I saw Priyanka's performance in Barfi where her brilliance as an actor came out."

While receiving the award, Priyanka said, "Standing on this stage today has brought me full circle. Femina Miss India is where it all began for me. It gave me the perfect platform and opportunities to chase my dreams. I am very grateful to everyone at Femina and the Times of India for their support and love over the years. A big thank you to Reliance Digital for their constant support and for giving me such a big honour."

Guests and the audience present were proud that Priyanka was honoured with this award. Since the Miss World win, Priyanka has gone from strength to strength. Today, she is recognised both critically and by audiences world over for her acting prowess. She has also made a successful foray in to the international music industry with her debut music single. Priyanka is also recognised for her support of innumerable causes. As the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, Priyanka has worked tirelessly for the cause of the upliftment of the girl child amongst one of the many causes she supports.
